The Digitalisation Council – a tool for active leadership in the area of digitisation policy

Sweden has an objective to be the best in the world at utilising the opportunities created by digitisation. This is why the government established the Digitalisation Council, which consists of ten people. Its undertaking is to promote and develop common leadership in the government’s strategic work on digitisation.

Digitisation is an important issue in all political areas and activities. There are currently specialist councils in areas such as e-health, digital administration and broadband. The Digitalisation Council’s undertaking includes the creation of greater coordination between different governmental and public organisations and subject areas, and also between public and private actors.

The Digitalisation Council will propose and implement activities and initiatives to create new collaboration and to support and develop that which already exists. The Council’s analyses and input will form the basis of implementing and developing the government’s digitisation policy.
